October 2023

Hello PTK,

As we hit the mid-term mark of our fall semester, I am writing to share the significant advancements PTK has achieved since the last update from the summer.

In September, we had the privilege of connecting with the Development Administrator for BCC Foundations, who generously taught us about the best practices for grant-writing.

Our outreach efforts were showcased during the PTK Awareness Week. We tabled and actively engaged with our peers and faculty at both the Paramus and Lyndhurst campuses. In addition to expanding our physical presence on both campuses, we also officially launched our “Lyndhurst Logs” post series.

Furthermore, we also launched our partnership with Juniper Village, a senior living and memory care facility on October 6th, where we participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show and conducted interviews about memory with residents. This event reinforced our commitment to community service.

Our Service team has been incredibly prolific in planning events and starting initiatives for the students. We revisited our friends at MEVO Farms on October 1st, and weeded crop beds and peach trees, disassembled tomato vine scaffolding, and tarped the field for the upcoming winter. We partnered with Theater Club and PRIDE club again this year for the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention walk, where we raised hundreds of dollars for this heartfelt cause. As Halloween is approaching, we listed our PTK office in Paramus as a collection site for our Halloween Costume Drive. In addition to the two large boxes of donations we received from college students and staff, the local Girl Scout troop also donated several bags and boxes to children in need, where all of our donations will go to JerseyCares. We have also been continuing our campus cleanups in August, September (where we’ve had our largest turnout yet), and October.

These two months have been a whirlwind of activities, learning, and growth. As we prepare for the upcoming months, we remain grateful for your support and encouragement.

Warm regards,

Lynne Kim
