Professor Kyi served an a Phi Theta Kappa advisor at Bergen Community College for over ten years. She is an Academic Counselor and Instructor as well as a Summer Faculty at Yale University. In April 2014, she received a regional and an international Distinguished Advisor Awards for her dedicated work. Ms. Angie Goldszmidt
Ms. Goldszmidt works in the College's Academic Affairs Department and serves as the administrative advisor for the Chapter. She is a BCC and Phi Theta Kappa alumna who transferred to Columbia University. In April 2015, she was awarded the Paragon Award for New Advisor on both the regional and international levels.

The Executive Board
My name is Anexis Ruiz I am originally from The Bronx, New York but now reside in Englewood, New Jersey. I am a Summer Intensive student, a Peer Leader, a Black Brown & College Bound ambassador and a distinguished gentleman of Phi Psi Lambda Leadership Society. My biggest passions include music and helping people in need. These passions allow me to have many tremendous goals for my future. Academically speaking, I plan to graduate from Bergen Community College in 2018 then attend Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Career wise, I will become a successful hip hop artist and establish my own non profit organization. I am a huge advocate for service and supporting those who are less fortunate.

My name is Tyler Kim. I am currently a Business Administration candidate with a concentration in Marketing. I plan on graduating after the end of the Spring 2018 semester. I intend to major in Finance, Economics, and/or Marketing with a minor in Computer Science once I transfer to a 4-year institution in the Tri-state area. After that, I plan on pursuing a career in the Business field and furthering my education and life by attaining an MBA. As the newly-elected VP of Finance for the Alpha Epsilon Phi, my goals for the upcoming year include: maintaining and improving upon the finances of our chapter of PTK, working on interactive ways to improve the financial literacy of Bergen students, and encouraging enthusiasm towards education and consistent learning, especially in community college students.

My name is Clarisa Punla and I am a young professional and budding advocate from Bergenfield, NJ. After pursuing a degree in biology, I realized my true calling was in advocacy. I am currently working towards a degree in Communications and intend to graduate in the Spring of 2018. I strongly believe in the power of uplifting the voices of those who are traditionally neglected and I am passionate about using social media as a tool to reach out to greater communities. As an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, I strive to redefine the pursuit of education by building a community based on cultivating and revolutionizing the workforce. Additionally, I hope to lead my equals to excitement towards education and to encourage others to take initiative towards a thriving future, starting here at Bergen Community College.

My name is Caroline Sabsoul and I’m originally from Brazil. I started Bergen with hopes of expanding my knowledge and prepare myself for a four-year school to which I plan to transfer in 2018. My major is Criminal Justice and I hope to one day work as a police officer. Helping people in need is something I have been doing my whole life. I believe becoming a police officer will give me the opportunity to serve the community and help make the world a better place by strongly pursuing to expand community policing and its benefits. Phi Theta Kappa is my starting point as a leader and hopefully my inspiration to always strive for more.

Hi, I am Shivani Patel. My major is Engineering Science. I plan to graduate from BCC in the Spring of 2018. After that, I would like to transfer to Rutgers University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. I am an immigrant from India. I have lived in the United States for about four years now. I enjoy learning Math and Science. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, dancing or even sketching once in awhile. As the Vice President of Operations, I will endeavor to bring changes that positively impact college students and the society. I will strive to assist all BCC students to achieve their goals and motivate them to engage in activities and service events.

My name is Marianna Maltsev and I am majoring in Civil Engineering and plan on graduating Spring 2018. After BCC, I fully expect and plan to continue my education and complete a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. In my spare time, I volunteer as a safety and carpentry mentor on a high school robotics team. I also help organize fundraising events at a nonprofit Russian cultural center and assist in coordinating meetings for a Russian Scouting organization. As the newly elected Vice President of Recruitment, I am excited to motivate people to join this amazing society. I am looking forward to making a change in our community and help BCC’s students reach their goals.

My name is Aamir Ali. I am a first generation college student currently in my 4 th semester at Bergen
Community College. At Bergen, I am seeking a degree in Professional Studies which I hope to transfer
to Rutgers University with to continue my studies as both an English and Japanese major. My future goal would be to either teach Japanese in America, or teach English in Japan. I have a deep interest in reading Asian American Literature and hope to one day translate more Asian Literature that can be read in the Western world. Phi Theta Kappa has given me new friends, opportunities, and the confidence to push myself out of my comfort zone. As Director of Hallmarks, I will work towards getting more

My name is Massiel Erazo and I am a full time student at Bergen Community College pursuing a degree in Business Administration. I intend on graduating in the spring semester of 2018 with hopes of transferring to a four year institution to further my education as a Marketing major. Recently, I had the honor to be inducted as one of the Directors of Recruitment in Phi Theta Kappa and I will do everything in my power to fulfill this role. My name is Taryn McManus and I am fascinated by travel and books, I love to draw, and I have a profound appreciation for music. Outside of school and extracurriculars I can usually be found in the gym, at the beach or meditating in the park. I am attending Bergen under the NJ Stars program, which I received on behalf of my academic excellence in High School. Following the completion of my program at Bergen Community, I plan to transfer to an art school where I will pursue a career of an art director. in Information Technology. I hope to get into Columbia University and earn my degree in IT Management and Administration or Management Information Systems, my preferred post-graduation career path is to become an IT project manager and eventually a Chief Information Officer someday. I
work 35+ hours a week and go to school full-time in the fall and spring semesters, but with the free time, I do have my hobbies consist of volunteer work, going to the gym, cooking and reading.
My name is Alexander Czechowicz and I'm a post-baccalaureate student at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in applied sciences and mathematics. I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University in 2012 and am now completing the prerequisites for medical school. For four years, I worked with individuals with severe, persistent mental illness with CarePlus NJ. Currently, I am a 3SP scholar working with the EEG project at Bergen Community College’s STEM initiative. As the editor of the newsletter for Bergen Community College’s PTK chapter, I hope to bring the transformative experience that the organization offered me to as many students as possible.

My name is Deepa Banjara. I was born and raised in Nepal. Being a girl at a developing country, it was difficult to achieve a higher standard education. Therefore, after completion of my high school, I moved to USA in 2015 to pursue my undergraduate degree. Currently, I am studying Engineering at Bergen Community College and have been the member of the STEM club and working on making a Robot as a science project. As the Director of Scholarship at PTK, I want to encourage and help the student to receive additional financial support through grant and other type of financial aid. After getting an associate degree, I am planning to transfer to four-year university where I will pursue my career in soccer and in AL (Artificial Intelligence).
My name is Ekaterina (Kate) Knyazeva. I am an international student from Russia majoring in Computer Science. After graduating from Bergen Community College, I plan to continue my studies in CS and Cybersecurity at Stevens Institute of Technology. I am actively involved in the 3SP STEM Scholars Program at BCC. Also, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Philology, which I worked on in Russia, and a blue belt in Goju-Ryu style karate. My goal as a Chapter officer is to provide help and information to those students who strive for excellence no matter what their circumstances are. I want to inspire them to face new challenges – like Phi Theta Kappa has done for me.

My name is Grace Burns. I am someone who is caring, determined, positive, and hardworking. My goal after college is to become a physical therapist. I want to do a job like this so I can help as much people as possible. I see Director of Service as an opportunity to put my hopes of helping others into action. In the end, I hope whoever I come in contact with will either feel like someone cares, or that I was able to help them.
My name is Remila Jasharllari, and I am currently a Business Major in Bergen. However, my family’s
background and my life’s circumstances have made me very passionate for international relations and diplomacy studies, which I will follow upon transferring to a 4- year university. I came from Albania, with only a suitcase and a student visa two years ago, and I feel grateful for the opportunities that were given to me and for the people that I’ve met. In this short three semester period, I’ve worked on human trafficking awareness on Bergen, been part of Model UN Club and now I’ll be the Treasurer of PTK- a great way for me to contribute into solving the challenges students are facing while encouraging academic excellence.
My name is Yoshi Stover. My major is, Graphic Design and I’ll be graduating in the Spring of 2018. My goal in Bergen is to help make advertisements, such as flyers and posters, more effective in the college. That way people become more aware of the events that they can partake in around the college. I have a few goals in life, the main one being an artist for the video game industry. The other being an English School Teacher in Japan. My life dream is to work on a great video game that would get a ten out of ten from any critic. It can be alone, or it can be in a company, but I want to accomplish it.

I am currently majoring in Business Administration and wish to eventually pursue an undergraduate and graduate degree in hopes of working for a non profit organization. Through personal experience, I have learned to persevere through hardships and to utilize my education so that I can become a productive member of society. I aspire to travel the world and to work with youths from low-income families in impoverished neighborhoods reach their academic goals. I wish to change the stigma of a higher education and to help create equal opportunities. My name is Roida Cenomeri. I am an international student from Albania. I decided to attend Bergen Community College because it is a great and diverse school that offers a lot of opportunities. My near future goal is to transfer to a four-year university and study graphic design. Architecture is what I am truly interested in. Every time I have the chance to travel I make sure that my phone has enough space for pictures of some cute, old buildings. Also I am the Vice President of International Student Association (ISA).
