Professor Win Win Kyi
Professor Kyi served an a Phi Theta Kappa advisor at Bergen Community College for over ten years. She is an Academic Counselor and Instructor as well as a Summer Faculty at Yale University. In April 2014, she received a regional and an international Distinguished Advisor Awards for her dedicated work. Ms. Angie Goldszmidt
Ms. Goldszmidt works in the College's Academic Affairs Department and serves as the administrative advisor for the Chapter. She is a BCC and Phi Theta Kappa alumna who transferred to Columbia University. In April 2015, she was awarded the Paragon Award for New Advisor on both the regional and international levels.

Chapter Officers | Alpha Epsilon Phi
The Executive Board
Bryant Gomez is currently a honors student majoring in Professional Studies at Bergen Community College. Communication, patience, and positivity are traits that he uses throughout his life to encourage others to reach their full potential. He previously served as the 2017-2018 Editor-in-Chief of Honors Association and served as a senator of the Academic Affairs and Elections committee in 2017-2018 Student Government Association. Currently, Bryant works as a student aide in the Office of Student Life at Bergen Community College and as a Peer Mentor in the Title V Pathway Scholars Program. Being a member of Phi Theta Kappa has given Bryant the chance to make new friends and find his inner potential to push himself out of his comfort zone. As Chapter President, he will do his best to create awareness about the opportunities that the chapter brings and represent what Phi Theta Kappa is all about.
Vice President of Finance
Erisa Ganellari is an honors student of Bergen Community College. Her passion for mathematics and writing has inspired Erisa to study Economics. Currently, she is a tutor of the Cerullo Assistance Learning Center (CALC) of BCC where she helps students to enhance their understanding in the subjects of Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, and Logic. Erisa believes that “there is no better exercise for our hearts and minds than lifting people up”. Inspired to contribute in helping more students successfully graduate she is serving as a STEM Supplemental Instructor Leader (SI) for college-level mathematics. Erisa has represented BCC as a delegate in the New York Model United Nations Conference 2018 (Honorable Award). Erisa holds the position of the Vice-President of the MUN Club where she is responsible for recruiting new delegates and preparing the program for the following conference. Erisa highly values the Phi Theta Kappa’s mission to inspire students to seek team harmony and fully express their intellectual potential while making a difference. As the newly-elected VP of Finance for the Alpha Epsilon Phi Chapter Erisa is committed to make the right financial decisions for the chapter and promote cooperation. Erisa believes that “the symphony of success takes an orchestra to perform it” and it can only be achieved by striving for unity.
Vice President of Communication
Luis Sanchez is an honors NJ Stars student at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in general education, with a focus in business. Luis is currently the President of Future Business Leaders of America in BCC, where he leads weekly discussions on the latest business news and foster discussions among members. Outside of BCC, he is the Vice President of Clifton Toastmasters, an international group dedicated to delivering, preparing, and providing feedback for speeches. Luis thinks one thing students in the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society all have in common is their ability to achieve at the highest levels. Aside from this one similarity, BCC students are exceedingly different. With everyone coming from a different walk of life, these unique aspects of these ambitious students should not be ignored but embraced. As the Vice President of Communication, he hopes to be able to connect these like-minded, yet different, students beyond the classroom setting through social media.
General Vice President
Rafael Zarifa is an honors student at Bergen Community College, working on his Associate’s degree. He has looked for a safe alternative to the dangerous field of Criminal Justice, only to realize that his passion lies in that field. He hopes to transfer to either NYU, John Jay, or Rutgers, where he will pursue a Bachelor’s in Forensic Science. While in Bergen Community College he got involved in the Hillel Club, where he served as Vice President. He helped double attendance, as well as left a lasting mark on the way the meetings are held. After joining Phi Theta Kappa, he has served as a Director of Service. He later joined the Executive board as the Vice President of Recruitment. As the new General Vice President, Rafael hopes to pass the values he has learned to as many students as he can, as well as to guide and grow with his peers.

Armena Molla is an honors student at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in business administration. She was part of the highest 10% achieving students of her senior class in Garfield High School and now she is part of the NJ Stars program and also EOF program. She is a pharmacist technician and currently works part time at CVS pharmacy and also as a student aid at the Adjunct Administration Office at BCC. At the pharmacy she works with a devoted staff that helps patients to feel better and save on high drug expenses with different coupons. On the other hand, work study has given her the opportunity to work with professional teachers and deans and also network with other staff members. As the Vice President of Operations for Bergen Community College Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Armena hopes to give back to this organization by helping other students transform into their best self and encourage them to become a part of this great experience.

Cristian Teran is an honors student at Bergen Community College. His passion for technology and computer programs has inspired him to study Computer Science. He intends to transfer to NJIT or Montclair, but really hopes to attend Carnegie Mellon University. He currently is a tutor in the Cerullo Learning Assistance Center of BCC, where he aids students with Mathematics and Programming. Driven by his passion for the field, Cristian is currently part of BCC’s STEM research internship, where he is practicing and learning about cyber security and artificial intelligence. After becoming a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Cristian decided to make an active contribution in this society, inspired by the wish to help the community and being proactive to change situations for the better. As the new Vice President of Recruitment he aspires to share this amazing experience and opportunities with new prospective members so more people can join to help fulfil Phi Theta Kappa’s mission.

Director of Hallmarks
Daniel Currier is an honors student currently working towards a General Studies degree. Prior to entering PTK, Dan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, which fostered a strong desire to lead and grow as an individual. In BCC, Dan has enjoyed a successful academic career, which includes a recent first place win in the Annual Speech Competition. Although his destination remains unclear, he has always had an uncanny knack to move and persuade, and he will use these skills to their maximum potential as Director of Hallmarks.

Keanu Carbon is an honors student at Bergen Community College (BCC) striving towards an associates degree in Business Administration. After graduating BCC, he aims to transfer to an undecided four year institution where he plans to double major in Economics and Sports Management. He takes pride in volunteering for community service and serving in leadership capacities. A few of his prior leadership commitments include organizations like Phi Theta Kappa, Judith K. Winn School of Honors, Student Government Association and the Summer Intensive Program as a Peer Leader. He also works as a student aide and Peer Leader for the Honors Office and the Summer Intensive Program at Bergen Community College. He enjoys working as a team on projects that require him to push beyond his comfort zone, Phi Theta Kappa has offered such an opportunity. As a director of recruitment for Bergen Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter (PTK), he aspires to not only bring awareness to the chapter, but foster a welcoming community of PTK students.

Evan is an honors student at Bergen Community who is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He enjoys participating in Phi Theta Kappa events on campus. He previously served as a Director of Recruitment during the Spring Semester. Other organizations he participates in include the Student Government Association Senate, Student Government Association Judiciary, Student Conduct Hearing Board and FBLA. As Director of Recruitment, he strives to help increase awareness about chapter events and eligibility requirements for membership.
Director of Fundraising
Doreta Biba is an international student from Albania, pursuing an associate degree in Accounting at Bergen Community College. Growing up in a business environment and witnessing its positive impact in the community, inspired her to develop an interest in the business world. Combining Math and Economics classes in high school reassured her decision. She plans to transfer to an undecided 4 year college and further develop her academic interests in Finance. In BCC, amazed by the opportunities offered to her, Doreta has served leadership positions such as President of International Student Association, Treasurer and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Student Government Association, President and Founder of Albanian Roots Association and Director of Fundraising in PTK, where she has been able to achieve positive outcomes for the college. She works as a Peer Tutor in Cerullo Learning Assistance Center and was Awarded as The Best New Comer Tutor in 2017. As Director of Fundraising in PTK she aims to help the team turn the ideas into reality by providing the necessary financial resources, through creativity, perseverance, and hard work.
Sebastian Nazal is currently finishing his associates degree at Bergen Community College on professional studies. He pursues to continue his education through the field of psychology. Sebastian has been involved with some clubs at Bergen Community College while studying, such as the music club, Psi Beta, and Phi Theta Kappa. Where he joined the communications team to work as the newsletter editor the past spring semester, and decided to continue the same path during the upcoming fall semester 2018. Sebastian is an approachable person who hopes to leave his trace at Bergen Community College with involvement in campus and taking the best out of the experiences offered to him through PTK and the rest of the organizations in school.

Alicia Moran is an honors student at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in Information Technology. She is currently serving on the Phi Theta Kappa Advisory Board as the Director of Recruitment. Alicia is also the current Vice President of the Student Government Association. Her previous experience includes serving as the Chief Justice for the SGA, and serving as Social Media Coordinator in PTK. She also works as a student aide in the Office of Student Life. She has served on the Student Code of Conduct Revision Committee as the student voice. Alicia is an active member of the Community Standards Review Board on campus, and she volunteers on the Motor Vehicle Appeals Board. Alicia is hoping to leave a positive impact at Bergen by continuing to advocate for all members of the college. As Director of Recruitment, she hopes to significantly increase chapter recruitment.
Director of Service
Junbyung “Steve” Chae is an honors student currently at his second year at Bergen Community College, pursuing his associate’s degree in biology. He plans to transfer to a four-year college after completing his degree and continue his education in medical school to accomplish his career goal in becoming a doctor. Serving destitutes during summer since childhood, Steve has taken numerous mission trips to Asian countries such as India, Cambodia and Vietnam to volunteer at local hospitals, nurseries, and schools. He deeply admires the works Phi Theta Kappa has accomplished in its local community and aspires to continue its service as the Director of Service. Steve believes that communicating and cooperating with other officers and members of the honor society could bring positive changes to everyone inside and outside the campus.
Director of Fellowship
Karla Paulino is an honor student from Bergen Community College, where she is majoring in Professional Studies, emphasizing it in the field of psychology. Karla’s past experiences and decisions made her realized that her passion is where helping people and communicating with them is. So far, her goal for the future is to become a Clinical Psychologist and get to work with people that have the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects behavior, communication and social functioning. Currently, she works at a childcare, which allows her to enhance her understanding in children behavior, and also improve her communication, comprehension, and patience with them. In addition, she is part of New York Cares, a volunteer network that provides opportunities to work and share with people trough different nonprofit activities. Karla is also the Director of Fellowship of the Alpha Epsilon Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, where she hopes to enhance and improve the companionship and mutual support within all the members.
Website Manager/Graphic Designer
Ivana Zdravevska is currently in her sophomore year at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in computer science. With her academic achievements, she earned the respect to be in the NJ Stars Program. Ever since she was young she had an interest in computers. In her senior year of high school, she had an internship experience at a company called Hudson Integrated, which is a website design and internet marketing agency. She had the opportunity to work with incredible people who increased her passion for web development. Ivana has also been involved with volunteering at various activities on campus, as well as in the community. Being introduced to many extracurricular activities in high school and now, she had participated in clubs such as H.U.G.S. Club, Raider Pride Club, Heroes and Cool Kids Program, TechRoots Academy, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Generation M United Macedonian Diaspora. As the website manager and graphic designer for Bergen Community College’s PTK chapter, she hopes to apply her creativity, keep the website to update, ensure aesthetic content, and work together as a team.
Director of Fundraising
Amina Muka is an international student at Bergen Community College. She previously studied Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Tirana but is now pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. For 3 years prior to Bergen, Amina worked with Peace Corp volunteers in Albania as an assistant and also was the president of a women’s leadership group called GLOW. Now, as the Director of Fundraising in PTK, she hopes to continue being involved in the community and also apply the business knowledge she is learning in her new major. In the future, she hopes to transfer to a reputable business school, such as NYU or Rutgers, and also hopes to study abroad for a semester in Japan.

Manuela Mendez is an honors student at Bergen community college (BCC), seeking an associate degree in Criminal Justice, with a focus in Forensic Psychology. She has been part of the Criminal Justice club for two semester at BCC and has worked several times as a federal work-study student at campus. She has also done volunteering work which has given her the opportunity to work with large number of people and kids. Allowing her to sharpen her communication skills and gain experience with teamwork. Manuela is bilingual and has a very open mindset; thanks to the opportunity she has been given of traveling to various country and personally learn about diversity and cultures. Manuela is currently director of recruitment for BCC Phi Theta Kappa chapter. As director of recruitment, she hopes to help other students to get more involved and excel their full potential.
Adelajda is an international student from Italy, majoring in Natural Sciences and Mathematics and striving to pursue a biomedical career. Adelajda’s involvement in the college started with the STEM Union, selected as a project leader for the EEG Team which she lead through the summer internship. Adelajda serves as a peer mentor for the Pathway Scholar Program, inspiring and coaching college students to succeed academically and professionally. Her experiences as a tutor and Supplemental Instructor Leader (SI) for STEM college level courses, contribute to her leaderships experiences. ‘Being a leader is more than just helping others: it is uplifting your mentee, your student, your friend to their next level which will make this world a better place’. Adelajda’s interests space over the science laboratories, as she participated at the Model United Nations in NYC confirming her interest to voice global causes for global and healthier impacts. Serving as a newsletter co-editor, Adelajda is willing to influence her community by sharing her chapter’s successes on a regional and international level as well as uplifting it to the next level.

Patrick Hanna is studying Computer Science, and he hopes to focus on Artificial intelligence. He is on track to graduate in the fall of 2018. He hopes to one day have more than three PhDs in varying fields. The reason being, he believes that education is the ultimate goal in life. He hopes to use that education in helping pioneer new means of improving the human experience. He joined PTK because he knew that he could find similarly driven people there. People he would be proud to call his friends.
Sophia Cassera is a sophomore at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in Science in hopes of transferring to a four-year college/university in order to become a Pediatric Nurse. As of now, Sophia is an NJ STARS student taking prerequisites and general classes for a nursing program or nursing school. She currently serves as Secretary for the PTK Chapter at BCC. Sophia expects to meet a lot of new people while learning and experiencing many amazing things in the process. Getting involved within BCC instead of just going to class is one of Sophia’s main goals before graduating. She can’t wait to take on a new adventure in her life with the PTK Chapter at Bergen Community College!
Social Media Coordinator
Hahyung Jung is an international student from South Korea at Bergen Community College majoring in computer science and seeking an associate’s degree in applied computer science or mathematics. Regarding his educational history, although he studied biochemistry at a university, he dropped out of the college. However, Hahyung realized the importance of the education, and started over at Bergen Community College. According to his career, first, for a year, Hahyung worked as a program producer in a radio broadcasting station. Second, he served in the South Korean military for 2 years. Third, in Australia, he worked as a cook, a dishwasher, a porter for a year. Last, currently, he is working as a tutor dealing with mathematics and chemistry at Bergen Community College. As the social media coordinator of PTK, by utilizing his career and experience, he hopes to devote his endeavor to PTK in order to expand student’s communication.
