Tyler is an honors student at Bergen Community College. He is currently majoring in Computer Science, with a focus on database architecture and Artificial Intelligence. He intends to transfer to NJIT to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Tyler is also a member of Bergen’s Stem Student Scholars Program. Currently, he is researching the possibilities of creating a medical database within a mainframe environment. With the help of his team, this research has garnered the attention of several enterprise computing companies, including Viacom Infinity and IBM. Tyler is also a returning student who spent several years working as a team manager for his previous company. Now, as Chapter President of Phi Theta Kappa, he plans to use his skills in teamwork and leadership to inspire his fellow members through compassion and dedication. Above all else, he believes the most effective way to always lead through example.

Ezra Movsas is an honors student at Bergen Community College, pursuing an associate in applied science degree. He plans to transfer to a four year college and continue his education to become a doctor. Ezra first truly explored his passion for medicine during his first year at Bergen Community College. During his first year he did a clinical rotation two days a week for an entire year at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center. During his clinical rotations there he constantly interacted with patients and learned from many different employees. One of his main college involvements is mentoring new incoming students in the Health Professions Programs. Ezra understands how rigorous the programs can be and he shares his pearls of wisdom to help the incoming freshmen feel prepared. Ezra is now the Vice President of Finance for Phi Theta Kappa and hopes to make a positive impact on the PTK executive board.

Amanda Kurland is currently an honors student majoring in International Relations at Bergen Community College. Once she transfers, she will double major in International Relations and Arabic and pursue a career as a diplomat. This year, Amanda placed third in Bergen’s Speech Competition, advocating for mental health awareness. Outside of school, Amanda works at Cedar Crest, a retirement community, and volunteers at an animal rescue. She is very passionate about animals and hopes to incorporate her love for them into her future career. Amanda also loves to travel; her favorite place being Denmark, where she stayed with a Danish family for an exchange program. She has another opportunity to live with a host family next summer in Morocco for an Arabic immersion program and is very excited. Amanda is looking forward to this upcoming year and is hoping to make a real difference on the PTK executive board.

Tenzin Kalden is an honors student majoring in Business Administration at Bergen Community College. He hopes to transfer to Northeastern University, where he will pursue a Bachelor’s with a concentration in Accounting & Finance. Tenzin has been a three-time BCC Foundation scholarship recipient, and was invited to present a research paper at the Beacon Conference. He currently serves as a tutor at the Cerullo Assistance Learning Center, as well as a student mentor for the Turning Point program. He has previously served as Director of Service for Phi Theta Kappa, the Chair of College Affairs for Student Government Association, and Vice-President of Economics Club. Becoming a member of Phi Theta Kappa has allowed Tenzin to grow as a scholar and a leader. As the new General Vice-President, Tenzin hopes to create an inclusive environment where students are encouraged to take advantage of all the opportunities Bergen Community College has to offer.

Danbee “Sarah” Chae is an honors student at Bergen Community College, pursuing her associate’s degree in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She plans to transfer to an undecided four-year college and continue her education as a Biochemistry major in order to accomplish her career goal as a physician. Sarah has initially learned the importance of service through past medical mission trips and since then has been involving herself in the healthcare field. She is a volunteer/intern at Englewood Hospital, Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she provides support throughout the different facilities. Some of her college involvements include being a 3SP student, working in the EEKG Team and being a 2018-2019 CollegeLEADS member, a leadership and civic engagement program in partnership with the Bergen Volunteer Center. Sarah seeks to become a person who serves people before herself and make significant changes in the healthcare field.

Alexios Blaise Rossmann is an honors NJ Stars student at Bergen Community College seeking an associate’s degree in Music Business, with a focus in marketing. Blaise is currently an active member of Bergen Community College’s theater program, Bergen Stages, and recently took part in their production of “Into the Woods.” Outside of BCC, he works as a swim coach for the YWCA of Bergen County and volunteers with Visitation Academy in Paramus. Blaise is a firm advocate of the New Jersey Stars Program and wants to form connections between the NJ Stars Program and Phi Theta Kappa. As the Vice-President of Recruitment, he hopes to be able to match incoming freshman and current BCC students with driven, like-minded Phi Theta Kappa members and create an easier transition into Bergen Community College.

Alaa Essafi is an honors student currently majoring in Professional Studies at Bergen Community College. She hopes to transfer to Rutgers University, where she will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering for various non-profit organizations like Islamic Relief which provides clean water, education programs, and food to impoverished countries around the world. She also organizes events for her local mosque’s youth program. She is passionate about serving others, writing, and reading. In her free time, she enjoys hikes and takes photos for her friends. Alaa is excited to serve on the PTK Communications team, as she believes social media and effective communication is key to highlighting the positive impact PTK makes on Bergen Community College students. Through Phi Theta Kappa, she hopes to hone her leadership skills, critical thinking abilities, and use the organization as an outlet for community/social justice work.

Farai Chekeche is an honors and 3SP student at Bergen Community College currently working on an associate degree in Engineering Science. Having a desire to foster sustainable development by dealing with the infrastructure used to support populations in towns and cities has inspired him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering when transferring to a four-year school. His ultimate goal is to impact and build developing nations, particularly his native Zimbabwe, and facilitate a greater provision of amenities severely lacking in many communities in that region. Joining Phi Theta Kappa has given him an opportunity to work alongside intellectual and hard-working individuals and embark on new experiences. As a Director of Service, he hopes to further build upon Bergen’s outreach projects and make these opportunities not only to further contribute to the community served but to enhance the college experience of students through their participation as well.

Robert Krasowski is an honors student attending Bergen Community College. After multiple years in the workforce, Robert has returned to school to earn his degree - and would like to encourage others to pursue their academic goals. He intends to complete his Associate's in Economics at BCC and then transfer to another institution to continue his education. Since enrolling and joining Phi Theta Kappa, Robert has been active on campus, participating in service events and drives organized by PTK, as well as bringing back Economics Club to the student community. Outside of school and work, Robert is also active in his local community, particularly in offering assistance and translation services to those not fluent in English or who practice English as a second language. As a Director of Service, Robert hopes to put his experience and passion for outreach to the test by helping our organization and its vibrant community grow.

Xhemal Alliu is a full-time student, currently in his 3rd semester at Bergen Community College studying Natural Sciences. He has his eyes set on going to a four-year university to continue his education and get a Bachelor’s degree in game developing. He is an international student born in Albania with a passion for technology and video games. Along with his experience from his country of birth, he was part of a german student exchange program and hopes to bring fresh ideas and mindsets as a director of service to create incentives for new and current students at BCC. He joined PTK to further his academic knowledge and get hands on experience with projects that directly affect the quality of life on campus. Xhemal is looking forward to work with a smart and dedicated group of students to proudly carry on the reputation of Phi Theta Kappa.

Leyki Reynoso Jr. is a student from the Dominican Republic at Bergen Community college. He is pursuing an Associates degree in Computer Science and is planning to pursue a Double major in engineering and business once he transfers to a 4-year school, which will give him knowledge that he needs to help humanity to innovate and grow. He Is currently enrolled as a Tutor at Bergen Community College for Mat and computer Science classes and is part of the Stem Students Scholars Program. He is always looking for new opportunities to get outside of his comfort zone because he believes that the primary fuel to accomplish your goals is a passion for learning and a meaningful goal to strive for. He joined PTK because he is looking to improve student quality of life at Bergen while working with a passionate group of people which he can grow and learn with.

Sokunannya Om is an international student from Cambodia who is currently seeking an associate degree in Accounting at Bergen Community College. She plans to transfer to Rutgers Business School after graduating from BCC. At the age of eleven, she helped her grandmother running a pharmacy where she gained a lot of experiences in operating a business as well as knowledges in medicine. She then realized the important of accounting in business which inspired her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. In BCC, Sokunannya currently serves as the President of International Student Association where she there enjoys meeting people from different parts of the world and learning their cultures. She joined PTK because she believes that she could find people with similar interests who can inspire her to be a better person. As the Director of Fundraising, she hopes to use the experiences she has to help the team with the financial resources that they need.

Yusuf Cubuk is an honors student at Bergen Community College, currently working on his associate’s degree in Economics. He came to the United States with one goal in mind - getting the best education there is in the field he is interested in. He is determined to complete his education at an Ivy League School and attain a strong background in finance and investments. He is confident that pursuing a prestigious education will help make his way to Wall Street, where he can thrive in a well-structured financial institution. Yusuf finds the concept of being part of a community very intriguing and rewarding, which led him to join the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Being part of the PTK community with varying passions and mission, he realized the motivation and joy it gives him. As the Director of Fundraising, Yusuf aims to use his experience at BCC to help his group achieve team goals by financial analyzing, determination, and creative ideas to increase their potential budget.

Jung Yoon is currently a 3SP STEM major at Bergen Community College. He hopes to transfer to Cornell University as an Animal Science major. His ultimate goal is to study veterinary medicine and become a companion animal veterinarian after he completes his undergraduate education. Jung has had the privilege to work with Dr. DeSanto at the Oradell Animal Hospital every week for the past four years. Jung volunteers at an animal shelter and is also a volunteer Math and English after school teacher for elementary school students. Jung’s primary passion is with science and as such, loves to conduct research with his mentors Dr. Charles Sontag and Dr. Elena Tartaglia. He is currently researching the social hierarchy of Eastern gray squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis). He aims to make research and internships more accessible to all Bergen Community College students to better prepare them for transferring to their respective four-year institutions.

Adele Lipkin is an honors student currently in her second year at Bergen Community College. She is pursuing her associate’s degree in graphic design. She plans to transfer to a four-year college after completing her associates degree and continue her education at Montclair State University. She is very passionate about art and photography, and always seeks opportunities to learn about her major and her career. This summer she is participating in an internship abroad in Israel. There she will be applying her skills and knowledge in graphic design at a news agency. As the graphic designer for Bergen Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, she hopes to apply her creativity and innovation to help create an attractive online presence for the organization. She is looking forward to collaborating with the communications team to inform more students about the amazing opportunities PTK has to offer.

Laura Varon is currently an honors student at Bergen Community College seeking a degree in Liberal Arts. After completing her studies at BCC, she plans on transferring to an undecided four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree in Public and International Affairs. Since one of her passions is to advocate for what is right and equitable, she also expects to earn a Juris Doctor Degree. With a responsible, disciplined, and creative nature, Laura has become a committed and dynamic person. Presently, she serves a Justice for the Student Government Association, where she organizes and participates in events that attempt to deliver relevant information about campus safety. As a Director of Recruitment for the Alpha Epsilon Phi Chapter, Laura expects to generate a positive change in Phi Theta Kappa by encouraging current and future BCC students to learn the benefits of being an active community member and an affiliate of PTK.

My name is Brittany Cardona and I am currently an honors student at Bergen Community College, I serve as the Director of Recruitment for Phi Theta Kappa and am also a member of the Judith K. Winn School of Honors on campus. I am pursuing my associates degree in General Science and Math, and will major in Biology at the four-year-university of my choice. I plan on staying in New Jersey, since I do not want to be too far away from my younger siblings or my mother’s cooking, and I am interested in attending Stevens Institute of Technology or Seton Hall University next fall. My career will take place in the medical field, and I am interested in becoming an Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dermatologist, or Orthopedic Surgeon, which I will narrow down as a travel further down my path. I currently work part-time at New Balance in Hasbrouck Heights, and working in sales has taught me valuable lessons such as the importance of networking, prioritization, and self-discipline. Although being enrolled in seventeen credits is a challenge in itself, half of which being honors, I have had the opportunity to improve my time management and balance my responsibilities without becoming overwhelmed. I want a more fulfilling experience at Bergen Community College and to become even more involved on campus, and I hope to add College LEADS to my list of accomplishments.

Elijah Master is currently seeking an associate degree in Professional Studies. He is passionate about learning, service work, and creating things (particularly music). Elijah enjoys encouraging others to reach for their potential and become the best versions of themselves that they can be. He makes continued efforts to get people involved in activities and projects with the aim to inspire them and aid in their academic and professional development. He also hopes to foster a positive impact in the wider community both on and off campus. As a Director of Service, Elijah intends to make service work opportunities more readily available, fun, and fulfilling to students on campus. Through doing so, he hopes to open up the joy and fulfillment of contributing to the community to a wider audience of BCC students. In his free time Elijah enjoys making music and writing poetry.

Han Eul (Robin) Yoo is an honors student at Bergen Community College pursuing an associate’s degree in Philosophy. At his first year at Bergen, Robin volunteered as an International Conversation Partner, and placed 1st in Bergen’s 11th Annual Speech Competition. Robin was recently elected to serve on the Executive Board of Bergen’s Student Government Association. Additionally, Robin will continue to serve as a student representative on the Community Standards and Motor Vehicles Appeals Boards, as Chair of the Elections Committee and as Vice-Chair of the Breathe Clear Campus Taskforce. Outside of school, Robin volunteers his time as a side-walker to Pony Power Therapies in his hometown of Mahwah, NJ. As Director of Service of Phi Theta Kappa, Robin looks forward to not only building both inclusive and expansive service opportunities and but also upholding all four Hallmarks of PTK. In his free time, you will find Robin rock climbing or exploring new places to eat and drink!

Tae Kim is an 3SP student at Bergen Community College working on his Associate’s degree in Biology. He hopes to transfer to Columbia University or NYU to complete his Bachelor’s degree. After undergraduate, his goal is to enter the medical field and use his knowledge and experiences to give back to the community. He is passionate about Biology and teaches Math to middle and high school students. Currently, he is working with the EEKG team on a research using biofeedback instruments, EEG and EKG, to measure how visuals affect the brain and the heart. He hopes to publish the paper and attend conferences such as STEM C^2, MACUB, and Tri-Beta. Tae joined the PTK to surround himself with passionate students and work together to accomplish a common goal. As a Director of Service, Tae hopes to share his ideas and create service opportunities for the students.

Nami Uchida is an honors student currently studying for an Associate Degree in Physics. After graduating, she plans on continuing her undergraduate studies and possibly pursuing a graduate program in astrophysics. During her STEM Student Scholars summer internship, she learned about computational materials science while also being part of the high altitude balloon project. She loves interacting with young children, including working as a camp counselor at her local summer camp each year. She especially finds fulfillment when she is able to help children spark their curiosity towards science. On her spare time, Nami enjoys taking and viewing photos, baking hollow macarons, and exploring any “alternative” subject. She believes that growth stems from change, and that challenging different things with an open mindset is important to create new ideas. Along with her diverse colleagues, she looks forward to making positive contributions to Bergen Community College that has provided her with so many opportunities.

Hadassah Haricha is an Honors and 3SP student at Bergen CommunityCollege (BCC), majoring in Natural Science. She enjoys playing soccer as a member of BCC Women’s Soccer team, spending time with loved ones, and serving her community. She became a Certified Emergency Medical Technician and Community Emergency Response Team member which stemmed from her drive to help those in her community. Volunteering at the hospital, serving on mission trips, and organizing toy drives at her local church has increased her passion for servitude. Through Phi Theta Kappa she is excited to serve others in new ways, and embrace the four hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Upon completion at Bergen Community College, she desires to transfer to a four year university to study and research more about Nutritional Science. Her interest in nutrition spurs from her personal experience and research, of the important correlation between diet and disease prevention.

Zion is an honor student, Pathway Scholar, and College Leads member at Bergen Community College. She is currently part of BCC’s STEM research internship, where she is practicing and learning about cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Her goal is to graduate from Bergen Community College with her General Associates in Professional Studies. Then transfer to a college, where she can graduate with a bachelors in cybersecurity with a specialization in cyber-crimes and fraud investigations. She hopes to one day work for a Cyber Crimes Unit. As Director of Fundraising in PTK, she hopes to be a great asset to the team and put forth great and effective fundraising ideas. Zion’s favorite quote to live by is “the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” This quote reminds her that it’s not about what you do for yourself but what you do to better the lives around you.

Michael Petrazzuolo is currently an honors student who is majoring in economics at Bergen Community College. Right now, he plans on graduating Bergen with a degree in Business Administration. He intends on furthering his education at a four year institution with a major in either Economics or Finance. Michael has been heavily involved in Bergen’s business department, competing on Bergen’s NJC4 Case Competition Team. In addition, Michael has been a key contributor in the success of Bergen’s Future Business Leaders of America club. Aside from dedicating his time to academics, Michael runs track and field. His time as a four year varsity athlete and three year captain has seen him learn the value of leadership, teamwork, and dedication. Michael hopes that his passion for business and leadership skills will help him add to the success of PTK’s finance team and the organization as a whole.

Jennifer Park is an honors student pursuing an associates degree in history at Bergen Community College. After graduating, she plans to further pursue her education at a four year institution. She hopes to leverage that education to become an effective public servant in the future. She has received awards in journalism through her involvement with the Torch, Bergen’s student newspaper. She has also been involved with the Student Government Association judiciary, Bergen’s award-winning modelUN team, and CollegeLEADS, Bergen’s civic engagement program in collaboration with the Bergen Volunteer Center. She hopes to use the skills developed through these experiences in her work as editor of Alpha Epsilon Theta’s newsletter, the Edge. Her main goal is to facilitate communication within Bergen PTK’s membership at large to maximize the benefits of membership. In her free time, she enjoys embroidering patches, designing stickers, and listening to podcasts.

Ayaa Essafi is currently an honors student majoring in Science/ Professional Studies at Bergen Community College. She hopes to transfer to Rutgers University as a Biology Major and pursue a medical career. Ultimately, her goal is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon after the completion of her undergraduate education. Beyond the walls of Bergen Community College, Ayaa has volunteered with organizations like SMILE and Islamic Relief. These institutions combat issues that plague our communities such as homelessness and food insecurity. She has always been passionate about social justice issues and is constantly working towards the betterment of the community. As a new member of the PTK board, Ayaa hopes to learn and build off of the legacy that the previous leadership has established. She hopes that along with her colleagues she can bring about an abundance of leadership opportunities and involvement at all of the campuses at Bergen Community College.

Gabriel Sequera is an honor student at Bergen Community College, who is currently majoring in Sport Management to get his associates degree. Since he moved to the United States two years ago he has been involved with community activities such as bake sales and visits to veterans and nursing homes. In his experience at BCC Gabriel has been part of the history club as vice-president leading activities for his community and campus classmates. For him, joining PTK is an opportunity to help others and grow in his personal and professional life, to pursue a career in the professional field of sports. He intends to attend Rutgers after finishing his education in BCC to further continue his education and get a bachelors in Management. As a Director of recruitment, he plans to use his experience and knowledge in sports and teamwork to improve recruitment for people who want to keep their education.

After having earned an A.S. in Business and Accounting, Evan will complete an A.A. in History. He completed many courses through the JKW School of Honors.  He has participated in and presented multiple papers through Bergen’s Honors Conference. This culminated in his participation at the 27th annual Beacon Conference, where he was named a panel award winner in the discipline of Psychology. He has participated in many student organizations while at Bergen.  For example, he represented the Student Government in both the Senate and Judiciary Board.  He also has served as President of both the Psychology Club and Psi Beta Psychology Honor Society.  He helped the Economics Club as its Treasurer and also contributed toward the FBLA and Math Clubs. In addition, he likes to participate in many of the Phi Theta Kappa Service Events.  As a chapter leader, he likes to work with other like-minded students in contributing toward the school and promoting awareness about chapter events.
