Sunday, September 15th, 2019, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., on Lake Wallkill Road in Vernon Township, NJ.
Vernon Township partners with local organizations for litter cleanups of township streets, waterways, parks, and recreation sites. Phi Theta Kappa’s participation in this program not only helps keep Vernon clean and green but also promotes long-term sustainability of our natural environment.
We will help clean up Lake Wallkill Road by picking up trash and debris from the roadside, as part of Vernon Township’s Clean Communities Program. We will first meet at the Vernon Public Works Building (21 Church Street, Vernon, NJ) at 10:00 a.m. to pick up our equipment, and then we will all head to the Lake Wallkill Entrance to begin our cleanup.
For those in need of transportation, there will be transportation available outside of the Student Center departing at 9:00 a.m. Seating is limited, and these seats will be given to the first people to request them. In cases of limited transportation, please consider carpooling with fellow volunteers. Otherwise, volunteers who are able to transport themselves can go directly to the cleanup site to meet up with our team.
Volunteers should bring lunch/snacks, plenty of water, and sunscreen.
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothing that can protect you/get dirty. It is recommended to bring an extra change of clothes.
Attached below is the Accident Release Waiver. Please download, fill out, and deliver the form to Robert Krasowski at firstname.lastname@example.org or in-person prior to the cleanup. Volunteers need to fill out these forms to participate in the event. If you do not have insurance, please write “None” under that field. If you are under 18 years of age, a signature of a parent/guardian is required.
