Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society invites you to volunteer for MEVO farm work on Sunday, October 14th. This is a farm volunteer event where activities such as building, harvesting, mulching, weeding, and composting take place. Learn about and participate in sustainable farming with the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization.

MEVO (Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization, Inc.) is an environmental not-for-profit organization which carries out sustainability projects in Northern New Jersey. MEVO was founded in 2008 by then high school student Eric J. Fuchs-Stengel with the purpose of engaging community members and volunteers in projects that transform suburban communities to be environmentally sustainable. MEVO addresses local environmental concerns ranging from stopping illegal trash dumping throughout the indigenous community of the Ramapough Lunaape Nation, to creating sustainable community farms, and building miles of low-impact hiking trails.

The MEVO Fresh Roots Farm is a two-acre community based educational farm, located within the preserved forests of Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah, NJ. The Fresh Roots Farm is a community built and managed productive agricultural operation which contains a permaculture food forest, sixteen bee hive apiary, one acre raised bed fruits and vegetable market garden, large scale compost space, a 4 season greenhouse and refrigerator built out of 80% recycled materials, and a reused and recycled bulk material storage and tool area.
